He is Allah, the Creator, the Producer, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
Surah Al-Hashr, Ayah 24
‘Asma ul Husna’ is used to describe the names of Allah in this Ayah, with ‘Asma’ meaning names/titles and ‘Husna’ translating to (most) beautiful, the phrase roughly translates to ‘the beautiful names of Allah.’
In this series we will be exploring and studying these names and getting to know Allah better through His attributes which are mentioned within the Quran and Hadith. I’ll be posting one name a day, along with their transliterations, meanings and how we can implement them into our lives. Perfectly translating the names and attributes of Allah from their original Arabic into English is not possible, however, in this series we will be looking into their roots and meanings as much as we can so that we may learn, use the names within our duas and benefit from them.
May Allah increase us all in knowledge and make it easy for us to memorise His names and learn about Him, may He keep our intentions pure and reward you for yours. Ameen.

A disclaimer that the information in this series is a collation of information from various sources (mostly understandquran.com and the beautiful names of Allah series on wahiduddin.net) and my reflections on what I have learned. So, parts of it are from myself but this series is me collecting and reflecting on the information I learn, editing it so it’s easy to understand and refer back to, then sharing it with you guys so you can benefit too in shaa Allah. I must emphasise that I am no scholar, just your average muslim girl trying to learn about her faith and sharing it as she goes along.
Some Hadith regarding memorising the Asmaa ul Husna:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 50 Hadith 894
Abu Huraira reported Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as saying: ‘Verily, there are ninety-nine names for Allah, i.e. hundred excepting one. He who enumerates them would get into Paradise.’ And Hammam has made this addition on the authority of Abu Huraira who reported it from Prophet Muhammad ﷺ that he said: “He is Odd (one) and loves odd number.”
